Helicopter with Dy. Chief Minister of Maharashtra returned to Nagpur after the pilot noticed a Caution Light on Console
New Delhi, 25 September 2009 –
Helicopter EC 135, Call sign VT- GVD of Global Vectra Helicorp Ltd was detailed for commitment of the Dy. Chief Minister of Maharashtra on 25th Sep’09. The helicopter took off from Nagpur airfield at 12:00 hrs with the Minister and 03 passengers for a flight to Gharwa. The helicopter was flown by Capt. M.R.P. Kumar and Capt. D. P. Singh who are both well experienced pilots having a long time safety track record.
The helicopter flew for about 25 mins, 52 Nms when Capt. MRP Kumar (Pilot in Command) noticed a Caution Light on Console for one of the engines. Capt. Kumar reacted professionally by executing the corrective actions as per the operational standard procedures and took the correct decision to return back to Nagpur airport for verification.
The helicopter returned to Nagpur at 12:55 hours without any further occurrence enroute.
The brand new helicopter was recently delivered straight from the manufacturer and had only 60 hrs of flying. The aircraft represents the latest state of the art technology and is also completely certified by all relevant civil aviation authorities to fly in a Single Pilot configuration.
